A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
I was born and raised in Wauwatosa, WI by my parents Richard and Nancy who were originally from New Jersey and had met at William and Mary College. I got my ability to speak in front of groups by having to speak in front of groups at age 12 through Job’s Daughters a masonic organization, moving up the ranks and becoming Honored Queen. After graduating Wauwatosa East High School, where took speech with Mr. Craig Streff, I started college at the University of WI – Milwaukee in Speech Communications. I continued this degree at St. Olaf College earning my BA in 1985. I then traveled through Europe and worked in London for the Congregational Federation by developing youth and Christian Education programs. Upon returning stateside I had the honor of working fulltime in Marketing for DCI Marketing, earning a Silver Echo while working on the Lexus presale program and part time in Youth Ministry, developing programs in 6 different churches for their youth. I specialized in youth mission’s trips and the fundraising and coordination involved in this endeavor.
From my Marketing and Ministry years, after major surgery, I answered the call to ministry and relocated to Minneapolis, MN to attend Luther Seminary. While studying at Luther, I also took a year to study at Duke Divinity. At the end of seminary I was the first in the history of the school to graduate with a double masters at the same time, earning my Masters of Divinity towards ordination as well as a Masters in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Death and Dying. I was preaching and officiating weddings while doing youth ministry and seminary.
The week after graduation I headed back to Duke Divinity. I had the pleasure of working at Duke two years non-consecutively as an Area Coordinator for the Residential Life program responsible for freshman and upperclassman RA staffs. I graduated at Duke with a Theological Masters in Worship and Preaching,. During my time at Duke I sang with Duke Chapel Choir and was an ambassador to China. I have had the honor of preaching in Duke Chapel several times as I was one of their ministers called upon to do weddings at the Chapel.
I also completed my CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ while concurrently fulfilling my internship at First Congregational Church of Sun City, AZ.
During my time in seminary I was accepted and studying in the CFTS (Congregational Foundation of Theological Studies) program and had the greatest honor of receiving scholarship and coveted trip to England to learn about our English roots and past of the tradition.
Upon graduation from Duke I answered my first call and received ordination in the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches while serving First Congregational Church in St. Johns, MI where I made history by being the first woman minister in the town.
My second call was to East Granby Congregational Church in East Granby, CT. It was during this time that I met and married my husband Karl, after meeting in the Duke Alumni Club. We have two daughters Emily & Joy whom we have loved being parents too and raising.
After our first daughter was born, I went into Hospital Chaplaincy for Hartford Hospital at the Institute of Living. I then went on to be called into Interim worked and with doing this with several churches before Karl job called us to the headquarters in San Jose, CA.
During this time I took a Voice Over class at Gavalin College and entered the world of entrepreneurship and studying further with Voices For All in New York. We moved our family across country again to Cape Cod, MA. I continue to study with Lori Hauser who she and her husband are powerhouses in the Voice Over industry.
We have two dogs and two cats and one of our dogs is in competition for shows. We love to travel and play cards and we have spent many hours watching our girls sing, dance, play instruments, soccer, water polo and swimming. We are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives as open up a new career.
